  • Maverick County Hospital District was created on May 11, 1965 through House Bill Number 1073 of the 59th Session of the Texas Legislation. The district was created by authority of Section 9, Article IX of the Constitution of the State of Texas. Maverick County Hospital District owned and operated a hospital in Maverick County for 35 years until the sale of Fort Duncan Medical Center to Universal Health Services, Inc. on September 15, 2000. After the sale of the hospital, MCHD continued in its operation with the overseeing of the Diabetes and Nutrition Education Program, acting as host agency
